Recently Famitsu, a Japanese magazine, interviewed Tetsuya Nomura, the developer of KH3. Nomura explained what was seen in a newly released trailer of the highly anticipated game and he wasn't holding back on telling the magazine that there will be a new keyblade with "infinite capabilities."
Previously Kingdom Hearts III had a keyblade in the "Birth by Sheep" installment that turned into a vehicle. That was pretty advanced, but Nomura revealed that with the new installment of the Kingdom Hearts series the keyblade will have "unbelievable transformations."
"In the trailer, we saw it transform into the shape of a gun, but there are also some other unbelievable transformations," Nomura said during the interview.
Nomura continued to reveal updates on the keyblade.
"The other day, when we were checking it out, the staff member said 'it turns into ____' and I impulsively replied with, 'Are you serious?'" Nomura said with a laugh.
"According to suggestions from the planning side, it'll likely be used as some sort of gimmick. The keyblade has infinite possibilities."
Nomura also told the website about more gimmicks such as the "Attraction Flow" that was seen in the new trailer.
"The 'Attraction Flow,' allows you to choose moves according to different places and enemies, and especially so during boss fights where you'll be able to pull off unique moves," Nomura mentions. "This is an evolution of Kingdom Hearts 3D's Flowmotion, and will be one of Kingdom Hearts 3's main systems."
