| Hello ODA, Weevil's supposed to have a review for our latest Card of the Week, Magical Hats, but until it gets posted, let's have a nice discussion thread about the classic Trap Card.
Now, we all know this card was an orignal card used by Yugi Muto in the Duel Monsters series. It usually combined with his Dark Magicians in some way, though it was a Spell Card in the anime and manga.
Magical Hats is a defense card, but it also has potential seen by some players. Such as those who have used it in combination with "Geartown" or "Crystal Release." It can be a life saver and can also help you thin out the deck of unneeded Spells and Traps. Is it worthy of a place in Meta decks?

| In Meta decks i woudn't personally run it, but it does have some fun comboes with gear town and some intersting burn comboes with black pendant ( when its destroyed - 500 damage to opponent ) so basically your opponent takes 1000 burn damage if you summon 2 with hats effect. |

| There is also the trick using "Magic Formula" which will gain you 1000 LP.
The Grand Spellbook Tower is a good option as well, allowing you to Special Summon a Spellcaster after it's destroyed.
Also, you can use "Ultimate Offering" during the Opponent's Battle Phase to tribute the Hats for a monster, like for example "Obelisk the Tormentor" ? |

| thats true but for the spellbooks senario they probably would have searched that already. As for the ultimate offering situation, that is an interesting and sweet combo but i'm gonna be honest thats highly unlikely to happen due to all the popping you see this format and the lack of decks that run offering( maybe gadgets and even they are opting not to play offering anymore ). |

| Heh heh, i just noticed that MAGICAL Hats fits in an Ancient Gear deck. One period of time in Yugioh! said Machines were immune to Spells and Spellcaster attacks. It just seems funny when you hear of this combo after learning of a time like the Machine spell immunity. Funnier that its Ancient Gear too. |

| Several Madolche builds still run Offering actually, there is an OTK with it if I recall correctly. Not sure that Madolcde would make good use of Hats though.
There's still several good combos you can do with Hats, like the famous "Penguin Soldier" Maneuver. |

| Would Shift play a role with Hats? They are all technically facedown monsters, so the Attack target change can be aaaaany Hat you choose.

| Yeah, but you make sure something goes Boom with Penguin Solider. Force the attacks with Battle Mania to make sure they cant resist the facedowns. |
