This thread is for the Card of the Week. I'll be keeping a log of each one used and include a review for why I chose each card.

5-26-2013 [Lava Golem]

but being laval golem is only main decked in burn
and typically side decked in most anything else that uses it
i would put it more like a 7.5
since your also giving your opponent a 3000 beater that can still hurt ya in the end unless u have proper protection against it since compusle evacuation device is also a good out to draco and zenmaines i would say the only benafit golem has over that is they cant chain lances an dresses or anyhting else really.....also im not sure how lava golem works vs Ophion i think ophion prevents u from trying to tribute him off have to look that up

True. Very true. Evilswarm Ophion is immune to Lava Golem's Tributal Charms, but overall he is still a good option. As far as giving them a beater, you won't necessarily play Lava Golem without a plan with it, such as Compulsory Evacuation Device, Torrential Tribute, or even something a little better like a Spellbook of Power on your High Priestess of Prophecy.

I will have to reconsider his rating though so thank you for that.

Most likely if you're running burn, you're going to be running some sort of stall as well. o_o So something like gravity bind, or messenger of peace could easily stop it.

Personally i don't like Lava Golem, for the soul purpose of its high attack, too big of a risk T.T

True, but I think its weaknesses speak for itself. You give the opponent a 3000 beater. Not much else to say about that. Even if they can Solemn or Bottomless, they still lose their two monsters. Do you have more to add to it? If so, I will gladly add that to the review with credit to you.

Another weakness is if your opponent doesn't have 2 monsters, and they just only maintain a field (where they know you play a deck based off keeping off boss monsters), its pretty much a dead card.

A very good point Tai. If the opponent knows how to maintain a good field dominance with only 1 monster, then it is a rather dead card.

P.S.
This is the kind of thing I was hoping for with COTW Very Happy
