This week's featured card is an classic seen a lot in Burn Decks. The Mighty Lava Golem! This card first debuted in Season 3 of YuGiOh! under Marik's control when he gave it to Joey Wheeler during their Shadow Game. Let's examine the aspects of this card.
Attribute: Fire. There's a fair amount of Fire support now a days but nothing really worth noting with LG here.
Type: Fiend. Same as above.
ATK/DEF: 3000/2500. A very high ATK and DEF for an easy to summon monster.
Level: 8. Excellent Trade-In fodder or can be used for some Rank 8 fun.
Effect:This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned to your opponent's side of the field by Tributing 2 monsters they control. You cannot Normal Summon or Set the turn you Special Summon this card. This monster's controller takes 1000 damage during each of their Standby Phases.
Lava Golem is easy to summon, but he goes to your opponent's side of the field. This is where many are unsure of Lava Golem. Here's the thing though, in order to summon him, you have to Tribute TWO of THEIR monsters!
This is an excellent and efficient method of removing cards like Mecha Phantom Beast Dragosack and Wind-Up Zenmaines. Plus, every Standby Phase, they will take 1000 points of damage. Not so easy to take these days.
With cards like Evolzar Laggia, Wind-Up Zenmaines, Mecha Phantom Beast Dragosack and even the High Priestess of Prophecy running around, Lava Golem may just be your best friend in the deck or side deck.
Rating: 9/10.
