Ok if u probably don't know by now iv'e hated synchro and xyz monster since they have shown up however a friend kinda like me said to give em a try so i figured why not i guess its the least i can do now i just need to learn how to use them and stuff.

Synchro basically
Requires a Tuner and any type of monsters (except XYZ since their ranks and not levels)
Synchro total level equals the level of the combined Tuner+what ever other monster you used

YOU CAN NEVER USE 2 TUNERS for a synchro, unless the synchro states specifically which I dont think is done.

Tuner monsters are the first secondary Type of Normal Monsters, and the fifth secondary Type of Effect Monsters, like Union and Spirit monsters. Subsequently, there are some Tuner monsters which are Effect Monsters and a few that are Normal Monsters.

But basically as stated earlier above in this passage
Synchro equals the combined levels of the Tuner and Other monster(s) used.
You can only use 1 tuner per synchro, but you may use as many monsters for it as you want..as long as they meet the required level combined together.

Notice my tuner which is 3 stars and my monster is 4 stars
which is 7 stars in total which gives you this result:

Basic Lesson: XYZ are Black cards lol
pretty easy enough right? Well from the part it just gets EASIER..
Ok so if you understood synchrosn easily as so..XYZ isn't that much of a difference, they monsters with the same levels. (XYZ cannot be used for XYZ summoning because again XYZ are ranks not levels, you already know this though)

XYZ In Dueling Network
Once you have two monsters with the same level:


You overlay over the monster on to the monster with the SAME level


Then you go to ur extra deck and click OL Attack or OL Defense either one which ever you want to summon it in


Also notice on the XYZ cards you use like my Evilswarm Ophion it states
2 Level 4
^^^^^^ This is key, it tells you how many monsters you need and what level is requried..if its 3 overlay three monster what ever the level states.
Another thing about XYZ is that to activate their effects you must DETACH a card used for the overlaying to use it.
Also with XYZ the monsters you overlay them they become XYZ Materials and their effects are automatically Null and Void meaning they are useless..example
Overlaying Tour Bus with Sangan and you decided to use their effect like Sangans effect activates in the grave..but if its used as an overlay its effect is negated and no longer is void even in the graveyard.
So be careful what cards you use.

I on the other hand didnt take this as much of a demand, and just he is considering using XYZ or Synchros but don't know how to
hence my long paragraph on what they are and how they are used
