| Well Ash might actually be a rather deep character concept, if certain theories about him are true.
The Coma Theory.
Ash has been in a coma since Episode One: Pokemon I Choose You, after the blast of lightning from Pikachu fighting the Spearow horde. In the episode, we saw that Ash was a fool, incompetent and a terrible trainer. Pikachu even hated him. In his coma, he dreams of being a better trainer day by day, his Pikachu loving him and meeting many new friends (whereas in Pallet Town he had none). When his coma reaches a point where the journey should end, he creates another region to travel to, with all new Pokemon to see and catch.
The Ho Oh Theory
Ho-Oh was seen during the end of the first episode (a shiny Ho Oh even) and the PokeDex entry of ho-Oh says that it grants the person who sees it never ending happiness. Since Ash's happiest dream was to be a Pokemon Trainer and travel to catch them, he is forever ten years old and never made a Master solely so he can remain a Pokemon Trainer. |

| the first theory seems very plausible but the second one has a flaw why dosnt anyone else age |

| Because Ash is the only real consistent character who is constantly on the show to really notice. Misty and Oak are a close second, but Misty shows personal growth throughout and Oak sounds and looks older after so long |

| The most obvious explanation for his age is the inconsistency between the japanese and english versions.
when Ash and Co return to Viridian City in Season one, they comment on how long it has been.
Now in the original, they merely say its "been a long time" whereas in the dub it says "almost a year" |

| still you started watching like around diamond and pearl you wont get the story behind alot of old characters that they just keep reusing XD im pretty sure no new fans will understand why team rocket want pikachu from the show alone. I never did understand why they cant make new antagonists |

| because of my earlier stated theory : lazyness they never make new characters with depth anymore they jusr reuse the old ones while giving ash new sidekicks . Another thing to point out is that in the first seasons when a pokemon evolved it also changed personality thats why he never wants pikachu to evolve but now not only do pokemon barely change personality most dont even get one to begin with XD |

| I know this is a necropost, but I had to revive this. In X/Y Ash actually seems to have grown up a little. Is it possible that the peeps in Japan might be ready to end Pokémon? Ash might actually win the Kalos League... |

| I highly doubt they will end the series. Ash could win the Kalos League and it'd be fine, he'd still have reason to keep travelling. Don't forget he did win the Orange Islands and kept going. I know its not a legitimate league but still. |
