Hi I'm new and I was wondering if there are any banned decks for testing?

No decks are banned for testing currently. However, in order to get a test you are required to complete the most recent ODA lesson. Once that lesson has been closed and points have been awarded, you can contact any tester (most notably Sylveraine) and they will administer your test. Your first test is free of charge, but any test after that will cost 500 OD.

You did good on it don't worry lol so long as you did what the assignment asked you'll get credit. It's not up to me to award points for the lessons, though. Sylveraine will more than likely close the lesson and award points within a couple of days considering it's been up for awhile now. Give it a few days and once it's graded and closed, talk to him.

Fluff Fluff pretty much covered everything but just a note, if you used a tier 1 deck or a cheap OTK (Not potential) then your score will be lowered because of originality and maybe difficultly to see your skill e.g. if you use standard phantom beast combo in elemental dragons each duel and rely on it.

Actually, per standard ODA policy, there are banned decks. You are not allowed to use Win Conditions (Exodia, Final Countdown), Burn, Stall, FTK, OTK-centric or Deck-Out decks.

Also, now that the originality score is gone, you should think about banning Dragon Rulers and Evilswarms.

Perhaps even Fire Fists and Mermails. They are both overpowered decks.

I thought when we demolished Tier 1 restrictions Idk why but I assumed we unbanned all kinds of decks, my bad.

I wouldn't kill Evilswarm, but Dragon Rulers, I don't know. I hate banning ANY deck besides the obvious deck-out and Exodia decks and the like.

Lelouch, don't start this again. Yes, we have roughly one tester at the moment. We're in the process of finding people who are qualified to take the position. These things don't exactly happen overnight. You really don't have to bring up the issue every time the word "test" is mentioned, though.

Yeah stop with the constant moaning please, its gets annoying. Also we are getting more testers, we got Sasukat to be a tester recently so we have 2 actives ones. 3 if Jason comes online.

Decks that are no doubt Tier 1 should be banned for use by both the tester and the testee.

Currently, the decks that are no doubt T1 are Dragon rulers and Evilswarm, being that it' extremely difficult to get passed them. Both decks take skill, no doubt, but there isn't too much skill involveed for the decks, a they almost practically run themselves.

As for Mermails and Fire Fist : Neither decks are excessively overpowered at all, unless used by a player who knows that they're doing. Both decks take, perhaps, the MOST skill in all of the current meta. In addition to that, neither decks have seen many plays in tournaments.

As far as banning Tier 1 decks are concerned : With the Originality score still in the bracket, it was easy to draw out a players relative skill by using the rubric, as it factored out the fact that your opponent was using a Tier 1 deck. Withought the Originality part of the rubric, however, A player can go 2-0 with Evilswarm or Dragon rulers and end up earning Obelisk Blue rank, but when they end up playing against a noob-of-a-player, forced to use a non meta deck, you'll see a 60 card atlantean deck with only 2 cards in the extra deck and that he dosent know the rulings to his own cards.

Keeping in mind, though, for testers,t hat they have to TEST the skills of the testee. The tester should be OBLIGATED to use a Tier 2 deck, and the Testee is obligated to use any non-tier-1 deck of their chosing (Not including the banned decks ofcourse)
