Yeah, they're still tier 1.
Anywaaaays, I know there's been a Lightsworn version of the deck that "ivanrossitto has been using, but I don't like it simply because the Rank 7 engine seems better to me (Gaios, Dracossack, Blades, Big Eye, etc). Gaios is really easy to make with this deck.
I'm now going to explain my choices, because you don't make a deck by going with random cards you haven't thought about.
All E-dragons: Mandatory
Eclipse Wyvern/LaDD: I decided to try out the 1st turn LaDD play in this deck. It works WONDERS. You get LaDD in your 1st turn 70% of the time (you just need D.D.R. or a lot of dragons to banish).
Veiler: This format has taught us that Hand traps = good.
Fog King: The main monster that makes Rank 7s in the deck. It can be normal summoned without tributes and it's WATER, so it can make Abyssgaios with Tidal and can also be banished for it. Plus it's a 7 Star Sword target in case you don't have anything else to banish for it (which will be rare).
Gorz: This deck needs protection. Gorz is a Lv 7, stops OTKs, and Ravine isn't really holding me back from maining it. Why? Because Light and Darkness Dragon gets rid of ravine easily. And if I don't have LaDD out I can just use it for 7 Star Sword. Yeeah...
Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon: Mandatory, I guess. OTKs for days, also you can just banish it and then bring it back with D.D.R. That's OP.
Burial From a Different Dimension: More Fuel for my E-Dragons. Also works really well with Eclipse Wyvern. How? When it is sent to the graveyard (even from the banished zone), it's effect goes off. So I can basically get Light and Darkness Dragon and REDMD in 1 turn + more dragons to banish. That's really friggin' OP.
Card Destruction: You have a 5 E-Dragon hand? No problem, discard all 5 and proceed to plus like crazy. This card gets rid of bad hands and good hands (if your opponent has one ofc : D).
D.D.R.: SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAM. That's basically it. This card enables OTKs, and the cost is practically unexistant. How? You ALWAYS have an E-Dragon in your hand, and if you don't, you can just search it by banishing one. Dayum.
Staples: Mandatory.
Ravine: gives you more Fuel for your dragons. Also can send cards like REDMD to the graveyard so you can banish it and D.D.R. it in the same turn to get off insane OTKs. Plus enables more turn 1 LaDD plays by sending wyvern to the graveyard.
Hidden Armory: since most of the deck is based on D.D.R. to pull off it's combos, this card is pretty much mandatory. The restriction of not being able to normal summon/set is really nothing to worry about since all you will be doing is Special Summon. Rofl.
7 Star Sword: Since that one guy who topped with Dragons this format had 3, it's pretty must become a staple at 2 or 3 for all E-Dragon decks. I main 3 because more drawpower = good.
Phoenix Wing Wind Blast: makes your opponent topdeck a dead card if you use it wisely. It's compulsory evac device on steroids, and the cost is unexistant due to you always having an E-dragon in your hand. Want an example? Opponent summon Tour Guide to special summon another Tour Guide. You use Phoenix Wing Blast to return 1 tour guide to the top of their deck. They will just topdeck a TGU and will not have anything to summon for it. Win.
No Super Rejuvenation?!?!?!?: I don't need it. I have very few ways to discard more than 1 dragon from my hand, and it's really not going to help a lot since most of the time it's gonna be a dead draw. I'd rather main better cards.
No Sarcophagus?!?!?!?: Useless. All it does is get rid of my searchable targets by thinning my deck of 2 Dragons. I have better cards to main.
No Corsesca/Flamvell Guard?!?!?!?: I've been thinking about maining one but so far it's been unnecessary. Although I will consider it.
Side deck:D.D. Crow: With Tempest Dragunity being a big thing next format, this card is pretty much mandatory. Banish their Phalanx. gg. Also can be used for a variety of other decks such as Bujin, Mermails, Dark World, E-Dragons, Infernity, etc.
Exploder Dragon: searchable out to Ophion. I have no other major mained outs to it (other than blaster) so yeah. But I don't think Evilswarm will be a big thing next format. If it is I'm just gonna avoid it.
Maxx "C": mandatory.
Tsukuyomi: Because Ophion.
MST: Mandatory.
Skill Drain: oh my god, this card is so good. It turns my deck in a beatstick fest and RAPES ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING next format. Yes, every single tier 1 and most tier 2 decks die to this card, while all it does for me is turn my dragons into PERMANENT beatsticks. The only reason I'm siding it is because it also hinders some of my cards and gives them no purpose, like LaDD, Fog King, REDMD, etc. I can simply side those out.
Well then, now that I have explained every single one of my choices, you should be able to get the purpose of the deck.
If you have any suggestions please feel free to leave them here, I will consider them.
