Redox Beast Deck Empty
PostSubject: Redox Beast Deck   Redox Beast Deck EmptySun Jun 09, 2013 9:24 pm

Today I'm bringing to you, my all-original Redox Beast Deck! This Deck basically uses EARTH Beasts and the E-Drags of said Attribute, with several cards to loop Moja and King of the Beasts to be almost as Xyz-centric as E-Drags themselves! Unfortunately, I'm having some issues.

For one, NEEDS MOAR DRAW. Thanks to my choices in backrow hate and negation, I have pretty strong and well-protected opening plays which by themselves can guide me to victory, and that's before I even get into how many freaking ways I have to get my Beasts back from the Graveyard to the field. Nonetheless, against opponents who can survive my initial onslaught and strike back, my hand options wear themselves out quickly.

For another thing, I really need better engines to load my Graveyard than basic one-card combos like Dark World Dealings and Foolish Burial, though those have at least proven consistently useful.

Lastly, I need Side Deck tips. 'Nuff said.

No, I don't want to run Redox Gadgets, low-level Beasts are too cute to pass up! <3 And this Deck actually runs extremely well, I just need help fine-tuning it.

So without further delay, here's the Deck!

Redox Beast Deck ChVX9XG

Text-based Deck List:

Monsters (21):
3x Reactan, Dragon Ruler of Pebbles
3x Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders
3x Beast Striker
3x King of the Beasts
3x Moja
3x Lock Cat
3x Key Mouse

YES, I did run three of everything. I probably need to change that, but they're all pretty valuable to the strategy, and hey, everything worth running is worth running in multiples, right? Besides, I need a lot of base monsters so my Dragon Rulers can get on their feet.

Spells (9):
2x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Heavy Storm
1x Dark Hole
1x Monster Reborn
1x Book of Moon
1x Foolish Burial
1x Dark World Dealings
1x Pot of Avarice (for recycling Moja and Babies/Redox, used in moderation since some cards are better in Grave)

Traps (10):
2x Dark Bribe
1x Solemn Judgment
1x Solemn Warning
1x Spiritual Earth Art - Kurogane (bit of a tech, may or may not be worth it, but I think it should serve me well)
1x Torrential Tribute
2x Dimensional Prison (very outdated card, but this Deck sorely needed more defensive Traps, also helps a bit against Dracossack since it bypasses the destruction block)
2x Bottomless Trap Hole

Extra Deck:
2x Naturia Beast (Somewhat situational, but useful when I can call it out, and probably the third-best thing I can do with Key Mouse, right after bringing forward a Moja/Cat and...)
2x Balmung, Fighter from the Underworld (even more resurrect hax)
3x Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack (Yup, this guy)
1x Gaia Dragon the Thunder Charger (rarely used, but has good points)
2x Number 11: Big Eye
2x Number 39: Utopia
1x Number C39: Utopia Ray

Side Deck:
2x Effect Veiler
1x Mirror Force
1x Mystical Space Typhoon
2x Maxx "C"
2x Thunder King Rai-Oh
1x Dragon Capture Jar
2x System Down
2x Trap Stun
2x Forbidden Lance

The basic strategy of the Deck is to take advantage of my massive Grave-dumping and restoration supply to loop Moja, allowing me to quickly get Redox and King onto the field for Xyz, which can pretty easily turn into detaching King for Dracossack and looping again. Takes a bit of a hit on my hand, but it's fast and powerful. Decided to include a few Synchro monsters since Naturia Beast fit perfectly and Key Mouse, my recycler, just happens to be a Tuner. This Deck has lots of options but is quite consistent (though not as much as I'd like it to be, thus asking for the help).

Hint: I have no idea how to build an effective Side Deck.

If anybody has ideas, I'd appreciate them very much! Thanks again, nyan~~

It's something of a Meta counter, only Dragons I use are Redox and Gaia, and since I probably won't be using Gaia against any kind of Dragon Deck and Redox will almost always be in Defense Mode anyway, I figured, shoot, let's block Dragons from attacking. Helps me against Chaos Drags, E-Drags, Tempest Dragunity, and a number of other Decks. Do you think I should take it out? And what would I replace it with?

Honestly I would Side Deck the Mirror Forces, they aren't doing as well this format. Main 2 Bottomless over the MF.

I like the new build. Seems fairly consistent. How is Spiritual Art treating you so far? I like the idea.

I'm not too good with Beast decks but perhaps Wild Nature's Release to help with beaters?

Spiritual Art is doing fantastic. I was worried about the consistency issues, but every time I've drawn it it has helped me immensely so far. Almost won me my last game, together with Lock Cat I turned an empty field into Big Eye + King of the Beasts + one of my opponent's monsters. Granted, I still lost with them at 100 LP, but it showed me how great having it at one is. I haven't seen it dead once, either. So I'm glad I tried the tech. Anyway, thanks for the tips Nottu!

Also, Wild Nature's Release has never been a card I liked. Doesn't improve consistency at all, and most of my Beasts have low Defense, so they wouldn't get over much more than they already do. The only "beater" in my Deck is Beast Striker, with only 400 Defense, so I'd much rather dump said Wild Nature's Release for Striker's effect and more.

I would drop 1 tomahawk and 1 Utopia for 2 Lavaval Chains. Helps you speed up the deck by milling what you need. Also, consider Ryko Lightsworn Hunter and Super Nimbe Mega Hamster?

And risk milling my revival tools? I have plenty of ways to load my Grave. Also, I ended up dropping both Tomahawks for two Lavalvals. Won me the first Duel of my last Match, though DN's drawing technique and my opponent's skills cost me the last two Duels.

Well, Ryko seemed like a good idea and Hamster can speed that up and get Ryko out fast. But if you are concerned with the milling then I'll think of something else.

I could try Ryko and Hamster. I mean, nothing's stopping me from taking them out if I don't like them.

True that, and if you run multiple Ryko, you can use Charge of the Light Brigade for search and deck thinning.
