| A "Condition Effect" or "Rule Effect" is a common term that describes how effect monster's effects are to be applied.
There are mainly two types of card Condition Effects. Effects that can be negated by cards like "Skill Drain" and cards that cannot.- Conditions that cannot be negated - Certain conditions can't be negated no matter what. These conditions you'll find will be much more beneficial towards your dueling. There are several types of these, but I'll try to name all the key ones.
"Name Modifiers": Cards that have name changes when they are in the deck. Such examples are, "A Legendary Ocean" and "Cyber Harpy Lady".
"Maintenance Costs": Cards like "Mirror Wall" that require the holder to apply a certain affect every turn.
"Limited Restrictions": Cards like "Chaos Sorcerer" and "Black Luster Soldier, Envoy of the End" that can only activate their effects once per turn, and only one of the effects.
"Summoning Restrictions": Cards like "Doomcaliber Knight" or "Dark Armed Dragon" that may only be summoned under special ways.
"Lingering Effects": This one has quite a lot, but some of the main ones are cards like "Quillbolt Hedgehog" and "Honest". Cards that effects will remain active until a certain time period possibly, such as long as it stays in the field, or until the end-phase.
"Victory Conditions": Alternate win conditions basically. Exodia, Destiny Board, anything.
"Archetype Conditions": A HUGE one. This applies with cards like "Axe of Despair" or other cards that allow you only to equip or activate as long as you have a certain archetype of card on the field.
- Conditions that can be negated - Generally, these cards are used more often, and they also don't have to be face-up on the field. These effects could be applied if they are in your hand, graveyard, or face-down on the field.
"Graveyard Conditions": Cards such as "Harpie Queen" and "Elemental HERO Necroshade" that can only have their card effects activated from the graveyard.
"Multiple Card-Types" Cards like "Light and Darkness Dragon" that can have multiple attributes or types at the same time.
"Only 1 on the field Restrictions": This can be applied to cards like in the "Malefic" archetype. Where you're allowed only to have one face-up malefic monster on the field at a time.
"Special Summoning Condition": Cards such as "Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World", and "Cyber Dragon", which can only be summoned if a certain condition or effect is applied.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Over all, Condition Effects are generally something that can be picked up rather quickly, it's just know what type they are and what type of effects they have that can prove their usefulness.
Anyway, your assignment for this period of time is this: Find three examples of either Conditions that can be negated, or conditions that cannot be negated, and post them below with a dueling picture. The base is still obviously 100, but the more original the posts, the more points awarded.
Regardless, good luck, and happy dueling!
